MOSCOW, 18 Mar – The players of “Spartak” are to blame for the defeat from “Orenburg”, said after the match of the 20th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL), the head coach of the “red-white” Guillermo Abascal, who also noted that he could not call this game the worst for him in Russia.

The meeting “Orenburg” – “Spartak” took place on the field of the South Ural team on Saturday and ended with the victory of the hosts with a score of 2:0. Spartak suffered its first defeat in the RPL since September 11, 2022, and also left the field for the first time since August 20 without scoring goals.

“I can’t say that this is the worst match with me at Spartak. The worst match is when you don’t shoot on goal, and the opponent doesn’t let you do anything. In this case, apart from a few quick counterattacks, in the second half almost the whole game was played in the opponent’s half of the field. I saw the character and desire of the guys. It is obvious that there were mistakes, but it is necessary to judge not only by the result,” the coach added.

Abascal also noted that “Orenburg” looked fresher in the first half of the match, as they did not play in the middle of the week in the Russian Cup, and the meeting started quite early – at 12:00 Moscow time.
