Before the start of IPL, Chennai Super Kings suffered a major setback, veteran player got injured

Before the start of the second phase of IPL 2021 (IPL), the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team led by MS Dhoni has suffered a major setback. Veteran opener Faf du Plessis has become a victim of injury. He got injured while playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and this was the reason why he could not even play in his team’s last league match. At the same time, there is doubt about his playing in the semi-final match as well.

Faf du Plessis is the captain of St Lucia Kings in the CPL and his team has also reached the semi-finals. However, he could not take part in the last league match against Barbados Royals. In his place, wicket-keeper batsman Andre Fletcher took over the captaincy. St Lucia’s team lost this match but despite this, it confirmed its place in the semi-finals.

It is not yet known how deep Faf du Plessis’s injury is, but if he does not take part in the CPL semi-finals, then it means that his injury is more. This may increase the problems of Chennai Super Kings as they will have to field a new opening batsman.

Faf du Plessis was in great form in CPL

Faf du Plessis is in tremendous form at the moment. He had scored a tremendous century in CPL and if he is out of IPL then it will be a big blow for Chennai Super Kings.

Du Plessis’s performance in the first half of the IPL was excellent. He is currently the third highest run-scorer in the tournament. He has scored 320 runs in seven matches so far. This is the reason that the performance of Chennai Super Kings was also very good and they are currently at the second position in the points table.
