Biathlete Christiansen won the small Crystal Globe in the World Cup mass start standings
MOSCOW, 19 Mar – Norwegian biathlete Vetle Christiansen won a small Crystal Globe for winning the World Cup mass start standings.
At the final stage in the Norwegian Holmenkollen, Christiansen took third place in the mass start. In four races, the biathlete scored 270 points. Second place was taken by his compatriot Johannes Boe (240 points), World Cup winner, who finished first in the race. The third was another representative of Norway – Sturla Legreyd (208).
Christiansen is 30 years old. He is an Olympic champion in the men’s relay race, a three-time world champion and the owner of a small Crystal Globe for winning the individual race standings in the 2022/23 season. The biathlete took third place in the overall standings of the World Cup this season.
The Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in September 2022 upheld the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice amid the situation in Ukraine.
