Karar: Gerrard is in talks to become Turkish Trabzonspor manager
MOSCOW, 11 Mar – English specialist Steven Gerrard is negotiating the appointment of the head coach of the Turkish football club Trabzonspor, Karar reports.
According to the source, Gerrard flew to Istanbul to discuss the details of the agreement with the vice-president of the Turkish club Ertugrul Dogan. He is running for president of Trabzonspor and Gerrard’s invitation is part of his campaign.
Trabzonspor are looking for a new head coach after the sacking of Abdullah Avci in early March. The team ranks sixth in the Turkish Championship standings with 38 points.
In October, Gerrard stepped down as manager of England’s Aston Villa, where he had been in charge since November 2021. Previously, the 42-year-old specialist also led the Scottish “Rangers” and the youth team of “Liverpool”, for which he played during his football career.
