Anastasia Goreeva won the final women’s race of the Commonwealth Cup in biathlon
MOSCOW, 12 Mar – Anastasia Goreeva became the winner of the mass start at the final, sixth stage of the Commonwealth Cup, which takes place in Tyumen.
She covered the distance of 12.5 km in 34 minutes 24.2 seconds, with two misses. Natalia Gerbulova was second (12.2 seconds back; 2 misses), Ekaterina Noskova won the bronze medal (+22.3; 4).
Irina Kazakevich finished fifth, Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht – ninth, Anastasia Shevchenko – 12th, Victoria Slivko – 17th. The best of the Belarusians was Dinara Alimbekova-Smolskaya, who finished sixth.
The Commonwealth Cup will end on Sunday with the men’s mass start. The Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in September decided to uphold the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice amid the situation in Ukraine.
