Biathlete Herrmann-Wik took the small Crystal Globe in the World Cup sprint standings
MOSCOW, 18 Mar – German biathlete Denise Herrmann-Wick won the small Crystal Globe for winning the World Cup sprint title by winning the race at the last round of the season in Holmenkollen, Norway.
The final sprint race of the season, in which Herrmann-Wik took gold, took place on Saturday.
After this success, she had 400 points in the overall sprint standings. The second place was taken by the Italian Dorothea Wierer (314), and the third – the owner of the big Crystal Globe this season, the Frenchwoman Julie Simon (295).
Herrmann-Vik managed to win the small Crystal Globe in the sprint standings for the second time. She did it for the first time in the 2019/20 season. In the overall standings of this season for the race to the end, the 34-year-old German is in fourth position.
The Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in September 2022 upheld the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice amid the situation in Ukraine.
