Germany’s Herrmann-Wick wins the pursuit race at the Biathlon World Cup in Italy
MOSCOW, 21 Jan – German Denise Herrmann-Wick became the winner of the pursuit race at the sixth stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Antholz (Italy).
The athlete covered the distance of 10 km in 29 minutes 53.1 seconds, having made two misses on four firing lines. Lisa Vittozzi of Italy finished second, 11.0 seconds back with 0 misses. The third was the Swede Elvira Overg (+17.2; 2). World Cup leader Julie Simon of France had 7 penalties to finish 18th (+1.54.0).
The sixth stage of the World Cup will end on Sunday with men’s and women’s relay races.
The Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in September decided to uphold the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice amid the situation in Ukraine.
