A month-long plan was planned to organize the 14th season of IPL 2021 Suspended. Strict bio bubble created for players and support staff. But after a month’s hard work, Corona got the eye and had to decide the fate of this season of IPL with just 10 minutes of video call.
Although there were reports that the tournament could be shifted to Mumbai before the IPL was postponed, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal says that Mumbai was never talked about as an option.
According to Indian Express, Dhumal said the decision to postpone the IPL was taken in a 10-minute video call between BCCI and IPL Governing Council after the Corona report from Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals’ Amit Mishra came up positive.
Dhumal said that Mumbai was never discussed. I do not know where this thing came from. In such a short time it was not possible to shift back to IPL in Mumbai.
On Monday, the Kovid report of Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrier came positive. After this, two members of the support staff including the Chennai Super Kings bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji were also found to be corona infected.
Dhumal said that he could not predict the situation. However, it has been made clear from the BCCI that the tournament has been postponed, not canceled. Now the board is exploring a new window for the T20 league. IPL Chairman Brajesh Patel said that the remaining 31 T20 League matches can be done before or after the World Cup. For this, we are looking for a window.
