Iran vows to grant women’s wish to attend men’s football matches

MOSCOW, Jan 24 – Deputy head of the Iranian Football Federation Mansour Ganbarzade promised to make every effort to fulfill the desire of Iranian women to attend football matches involving men’s teams in the near future.
After the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, women were unable to freely attend football matches played by men.
The sports official did not set a specific date for when women would be allowed to attend matches, but stressed that such permission is a requirement of FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation and that the experience of holding a number of league games that spectators were able to watch at the stadium was good.
Nevertheless, Ganbarzade stressed, the presence of women at the stadium should be properly organized and coordinated with other authorities, in addition to the football federation.
