Japanese tennis player Osaka withdrew from the Australian Open

MOSCOW, 8 Jan – Two-time Australian Open winner Naomi Osaka of Japan will miss the upcoming Australian Open. informs Twitter organizers of the competition.
The first Grand Slam of the season will take place in Melbourne from 16 to 29 January. Osaka won it in 2019 and 2021.
“Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from the Australian Open. We will miss her,” the post reads.
Osaka’s place in the tournament bracket will be taken by Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska.
In addition to two victories at the Australian Open, the 25-year-old Japanese has won the US Open twice (2018, 2020). The ex-first racket of the world today occupies 42nd place in the ranking of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
