Marca: Spanish prosecutors have no evidence in Barcelona’s corruption case
MOSCOW, 12 Mar – In a lawsuit filed by the Spanish prosecutor’s office against the football club “Barcelona” in the case of the transfer of money to the former vice-president of the technical committee of referees in the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Enriques Negreira, there is no evidence of violations, according to Marca.
Earlier media reported that from 2016 to 2018, Barcelona paid Negreira almost 1.4 million euros for referee reports. Spanish prosecutors filed corruption charges against Barcelona in the Negreira case on Friday.
It is noted that for the services of Negreira “Barcelona” paid an inflated price. The real purpose of the money transfers is unknown. The club’s management, in response to the demand of the prosecutor’s office, failed to provide financial statements on the case, citing the fact that the papers were not found.
Prosecutors have charged Barcelona as a legal entity, and former Catalan club presidents Josep Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, as well as Negreira himself, will also be charged.
