Tennis player Medvedev cursed a fan during a match at the Australian Open
MOSCOW, Jan 16 – Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev swore at a fan during the first round match of the Australian Open with American Marcos Giron.
Medvedev defeated Giron on Monday with a score of 6:0, 6:1, 6:2. At the serve of the Russian with a score of 40:40 (5:2 in games) in the third set, one of the fans shouted something to the Russian from the stands, to which Medvedev advised him in obscene form to “back off”. The ex-first racket of the world immediately received a warning from the judge.
Medvedev has previously had conflicts with Australian fans. Last year, a Russian at the Australian Open called fans who clapped or made noise during the second innings as people with low IQs. In the final of the tournament against the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, Medvedev, in a conversation with a judge on the tower, called the fans “idiots without brains.”
In the next round of the 2023 Australian Open, Medvedev will play Australian John Millman.
