Norwegian biathletes win the relay at the World Cup in Östersund
MOSCOW, 11 Mar – The Norwegian biathlon team won the last men’s 4×7.5 km relay race this season, held at the eighth stage of the World Cup in Östersund (Sweden).
Endre Strömsheim, Vebjorn Sorum, Johannes Dahle and Vetle Sjöstad Christiansen clocked 1h 9m 12.4s, clearing the course with no penalties and using seven spare rounds. The second place was taken by the French Oscar Lombardo, Antonin Guigonnat, Eric Perrot and Fabien Claude (22.5 seconds back; 1 lap, 8 extra rounds), the third place was taken by the Germans Roman Rees, Johannes Kühn, Philippe Navrat and Benedict Doll (+37.4; 1, 10).
Earlier on Saturday, the top three in the women’s relay race looked similar.
The Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in September 2022 decided to uphold the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice amid the situation in Ukraine.
