Racer Russell called harsh punishment for Alonso, because of which he lost the podium
MOSCOW, 19 Mar – Pilot “Mercedes” George Russell supported the driver “Aston Martin” Fernando Alonso and called severe punishment for the Spaniard, because of which he lost the podium at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix “Formula 1”.
On Sunday in Jeddah, Alonso finished third despite a five-second penalty early in the race for incorrectly positioning his car on the grid. After the finish, he was given another 10 seconds for serving the penalty incorrectly. Because of this, he dropped to fourth position, and Russell became third. For Alonso, this podium could be the 100th in his career. After Alonso was fined, Russell approached the Spaniard and hugged him.
“I think the punishment for Fernando was pretty harsh. Today he deserved the podium. But I’ll take an extra trophy, so I’m not really complaining,” Mirror quoted Russell.
