Rostovtsev’s approval for the post of coach of the biathlon team has not yet begun

The CSP has not yet begun the procedure for agreeing Rostovtsev to the post of coach of the biathlon team

MOSCOW, 10 Jan – Georgy Bryusov, director of the Center for Sports Training of Russian National Teams (FGBU TsSP), said that the appointment of Pavel Rostovtsev to the post of head coach of Russia in biathlon “is out of the question.”
Earlier, the head of the press service of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), Sergey Averyanov, said that Rostovtsev had been hired by the RBU since January 9 as the head coach of the Russian national team.
Bryusov recalled that the approval of the candidacy of the head coach of the sports team of the Russian Federation is carried out in accordance with the procedure approved by the relevant orders of the Russian Ministry of Sports. According to these orders, the sports federation submits documents on the candidacy of the head coach of the national team for consideration by the FGBU “CSP”. Based on the results of consideration of the documents, the FGBU “CSP” prepares a conclusion with a proposal to agree or not to agree on the corresponding candidate, which is sent to the Ministry of Sports.
Last season, the Russian biathlon team did not have a head coach. In May 2021, Valery Polkhovsky left this position for health reasons. Currently, the Russian national team has two senior coaches: Yuri Kaminsky works with the men’s team, and Mikhail Shashilov with the women’s team.
