South Africa defeated the Sri Lankan team by a huge margin of 10 wickets in the third and final T20 match (SL vs SA) and made a clean sweep of the series 3-0. Batting first, Sri Lankan team scored 120 runs for 8 wickets. Playing in reply, South Africa won the match by scoring 121 runs without losing any wicket in the 15th over. Quinton de Kock was adjudged Player of the Match and Player of the Series.
Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first which did not prove to be correct. Avishka Fernando was dismissed after scoring just 12 runs. After them, the fall of the wickets of Dhananjay de Silva and Rajapaksa made the situation worse. This wicket fall continued unabated. Kusal Perera was the only batsman who managed to score some runs standing at the crease. He got out after scoring 39 runs. Karunaratne scored an unbeaten 24 runs from the lower order and the team’s total reached 120 runs for 8 wickets. Fortoon and Rabada took 2 wickets each for South Africa.
There was no pressure on South Africa chasing the target. Opener batsmen Reeza Hendrix and Quinton de Kock, performing excellent batsmen, smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers and got the team to achieve the target easily. De Kock scored an unbeaten 59 off 46 balls. Reeza Hendrix scored an unbeaten 56 off 42 balls and the team won the match by scoring 121 runs in the fourth ball of the 15th over without losing any wicket. The visiting team also won the series 3-0. Nothing went right for the Sri Lankan team in this series.
