Vanguardia: Brazilian footballer Dani Alves transferred to prison with better conditions

MOSCOW, 23 Jan – Former Barcelona and Brazil footballer Dani Alves, who is on remand for rape, was transferred to a better prison on Monday morning, according to La Vanguardia.
In the new place of detention – Bryans 2 – Alves has a single cell with a private shower. There are currently an average of 80 prisoners there. Bryans 1, where the player has been held since Friday, has public showers.
The transfer was made for the privacy of the “popular prisoner” and his safety. It is noted that in this way the prison administration protected itself from any possible complaints in the future if one of the prisoners manages to photograph Alves or make public information about his daily activities in prison.
In early January, a 39-year-old defender was reported to the police by a woman whose name was not disclosed. She accused him of sexual assault in a nightclub in Barcelona, as well as rape and battery. The player denied his guilt. On Friday, a Barcelona court ruled that Alves should be placed in pre-trial detention, denying him bail. The Brazilian faces 4 to 12 years in prison on this charge.
Alves is the most decorated footballer in history. He has 46 trophies to his credit. As part of Barcelona, he became a six-time Spanish champion, four-time winner of the Spanish Cup and Super Cup, three-time winner of the Champions League. Alves also played for Sevilla, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazilian teams Bahia and Sao Paulo.
