France Presse: Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nasr debut could take place on January 22
MOSCOW, 7 Jan – Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to make his debut for Al-Nasr in the Saudi Arabian league on January 22, Agence France-Presse reported, citing a source at the club.
At the end of December, Al-Nasr announced the signing of a contract with Ronaldo until June 2025, on Tuesday there was a presentation of the player. It was reported that Ronaldo is not yet eligible to play for Al-Nasr, as the club exceeded the limit on foreign players in the team’s application. The club needs to get rid of one of the current foreign players in the team due to the limit in the Saudi league.
According to the source, Al-Nasr terminated the contract with Cameroon forward Vincent Abubakar for this purpose. Thus, Ronaldo will be able to play his first match for the club on January 22 against Al-Ittifaq. By then, the Portuguese should have served a two-match suspension imposed in November by the Football Association of England (FA).
On Friday, Ronaldo was in the stands during the victory of Al-Nasr in the match of the 12th round of the championship of Saudi Arabia with Al-Thai (2:0). Al-Nasr’s next game will be against Al-Shabaab on January 14.
