The BCCI in a statement said that the IPL Governing Council invites bids to acquire ownership and operation rights of 1 of the 2 new teams proposed to participate in the IPL 2022 season through a tender process.

However, the applicants fulfilling the prescribed criteria subject to the terms and conditions will be considered eligible for bidding. Merely on the basis of ITT procured for the bid will not confer any right on any applicant to bid.

The two teams to be selected are Lucknow, Pune and Ahmedabad as mentioned in the race. Narendra Modi Stadium and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium with large spectator capacity may gain priority in bidding for the franchise. Both are new stadiums and the spectator capacity is also high. The applicants who have asked to pay the highest amount in the bid will be the contenders to buy the team. Applicants with lesser amount will not be allowed to purchase the team.
