Former South African fast bowler Vernon Philander has given a big reaction after becoming the bowling coach of the Pakistan team. He has said that it was such a big offer that I could not refuse and I am very excited to work with the young fast bowlers of Pakistan.
Vernon Philander said that when the new PCB chairman Rameez Raja made this offer to him, he jumped with joy. He said that Pakistan has some great young fast bowlers and is looking forward to working with them. In a conversation with IOL Sports, he said,
Rameez Raja called me and asked if I am ready to join the Pakistan team. It was a big opportunity for me and I couldn’t deny it. It will be great to work with the best young players. Mohammad Hasnain is indeed a great young bowler. Apart from this, there is Shaheen Shah Afridi. I saw the performance of some of these players in the series against South Africa and I am looking forward to working with them.
Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander appointed as Pakistan coaches for T20 World Cup
Let us tell you that former Australia player Matthew Hayden and former South African fast bowler Vernon Philander have been appointed as the new coaches of the Pakistan team. Hayden will take over as the batting coach and Philander will discharge his duties in the bowling department.
However, these two veterans have been appointed only for the T20 World Cup. After that PCB will have to find new coaches. The first match of the Pakistani team in the T20 World Cup is to be against India.
Rameez Raja said that Matthew Hayden has the experience of winning the World Cup with Australia and has been a great player himself. For Philander, Raja said that I know his understanding in bowling. He has an excellent record against Australia.
