VORONEZH, 25 Nov – The police detained and delivered to Tambov the former sports director of the football club “Tambov” Pavel Khudyakov, suspected of fraud, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.

The investigative part of the investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tambov Region has initiated a criminal case under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale). The sanction of this article provides for up to 10 years in prison.
The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that we are talking about fraud with the financing of the football club. “At the moment, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in relation to this citizen is being resolved,” the agency’s interlocutor added.
According to him, Khudyakov was detained in the Moscow region.
“Tambov” finished the 2020/21 season on the last line in the standings of the Russian Premier League. The club’s participation in the championship after the winter break was questionable due to financial problems. The team from Tambov was able to finish the season thanks to the help of the league and other clubs. At the end of the season, FC Tambov said goodbye to the fans.
Olga Konovalova, general director of Tambov, was detained on September 30 on suspicion of three episodes of large-scale fraud, and was subsequently arrested. She is accused of a scam with the financing of the club.
The Arbitration Court of the Tambov Region on October 20 declared “Tambov” bankrupt, the requirements for the club at that time amounted to almost 377 million rubles. The initial bankruptcy procedure – observation – was introduced by the court against Tambov at the club’s request in April. The bankruptcy statement of the club said that as of January 31, 2021, the amount owed to creditors was about 537 million rubles.
