IIHF Sporting Director Hofstetter: the hockey arena in Omsk is impressive from the outside and from the inside
MOSCOW, 25 Nov – The sporting director of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Christian Hofstetter said that the arena under construction in Omsk looks impressive both inside and out.
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation on Thursday announced on its website that the IIHF commission has completed a three-day visit to Novosibirsk and Omsk, where matches of the youth ice hockey world championship will be held from December 26, 2022 to January 6, 2023. On Thursday, IIHF representatives visited Omsk and assessed the pace of construction of a new arena in the city.
“I find the arena both outside and inside impressive. The result that we saw is amazing. I am sure that you will have time to complete the construction on time,” the website of the Avangard Omsk hockey club quoted Hofstetter.
Since the 2018/19 season, the Omsk club has been playing home matches in Balashikha near Moscow, since the Arena Omsk, built in 2007, fell into disrepair in the fall of 2018. At the moment, a new one is being built on the site of the demolished palace, it should be commissioned in 2022.
