Carlos Alcaraz of Spain Davis Cup tests positive for COVID
MOSCOW, 25 Nov – Carlos Alcaraz, the tennis player of the Spanish national team, which is the rival of the Russian team in the Davis Cup group stage, has tested positive for coronavirus, the athlete himself said on Instagram.
The Davis Cup Final takes place from 25 November to 5 December in Madrid, Innsbruck and Turin. The Spanish national team plays in Madrid in Group A together with the teams from Russia and Ecuador. The match between the national teams of Spain and Russia will take place on November 28. The quarter-finals will be the winners of each of the six groups and the top two runners-up teams.
“I tested positive for coronavirus, which will prevent me from playing in the Davis Cup, which I have been waiting for,” Alcaraz wrote.
In addition to Alcaraz, Spain’s Davis Cup squad includes Pablo Carreño-Busta, Albert Ramos-Vignolas, Feliciano Lopez and Marcel Granollers.
