Arsenal head coach Arteta says he wants to bring Wenger back
MOSCOW, 25 Nov – Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta said he wants former soccer coach Arsene Wenger to be more active with the club.
Wenger led Arsenal from 1996 to 2018. Under the guidance of a French specialist, the team three times became the champion of England and seven times the owner of the Cup and Super Cup of the country. Arteta played for Arsenal under Wenger from 2011 to 2016.
“I saw him and talked to him when we went to watch the film. I was incredibly happy to see him and talk, I hope we can bring him closer to this decision. I think he would have a great time just seeing the atmosphere out of respect and admiration from everyone for what he did and who he is for the club, which he can create, being in the team, “- quoted by The Athletic Arteta.
“All I can say is that I would like him to be much closer to me personally, because I think he would be of great help. Everything takes time and I think he should point out as much as he needs. On my part and on behalf of everyone: we would be glad to see him much closer to the club, “he added.
Earlier this year, Wenger said he did not rule out a return to coaching, but “decided to maintain a full distance (from Arsenal), not emotionally, only physically.” Wenger also said that he still loves Arsenal and that he is grateful for the opportunity to work with the team for so long.
