A member of the Jumbo-Visma cycling team got into a fight with police at the finish line of the Vuelta stage.
MOSCOW, September 15 – An assistant of the Belgian cycling team Jumbo-Visma got into an argument with the police at the finish of the 18th stage of the Vuelta a España stage race; a video of the incident was published by journalist Marcelo La Gattina on the social network X (formerly the social network Twitter).
According to the source, police officers, trying to restore order, pushed the team assistant when he was helping the cyclists. He fell on the asphalt and tried to fight off law enforcement officers with his feet. After this, the police took the team member outside the venue of the bike race. It is noted that he was not detained.
Jumbo-Visma is the leader of the team overall classification of the Vuelta a España following the results of the 18th stage. The cyclists of the Dutch team – Slovenian Primoz Roglic, Dane Jonas Vingegaard and American Sepp Kuss – also occupy the first three places in the general classification of the stage race.
