MOSCOW, 20 Jul – Slovenian Alexander Sekulich has been appointed head coach of Lokomotiv-Kuban Krasnodar, according to the website of the basketball club.
Acting head coach Branko Maksimovic and his assistant Jovan Beader left the club due to the expiration of their contracts. The 44-year-old Sekulich will be assisted by his Croatian peer Yuritsa Zhuzha.
“I am very pleased to be part of the Loko family. In the past, the club has achieved amazing results with excellent coaches and has taken a prominent place in the international arena. My task and desire is to continue the work done in the past by great coaches. And try to show that Loko fans “can count on new successes that my predecessors set the bar very high. We have a lot of work to do with very talented Russian players who are an important part of Lokomotiv-Kuban,” Sekulovich said.
Maksimovich was appointed acting head coach of Lokomotiv Kuban in 2021. In the playoff series of the VTB United League for the third place, the Krasnodar team lost to UNICS Kazan.
Sekulich in 2020 led the Slovenian national team. Under his leadership, the national team became the fourth at the Tokyo Olympics.
