Boxer Alvarez says he wants a rematch with Bivol after fight with Ryder
MOSCOW, 18 Mar – Mexican boxer Saul Alvarez said that his next goal after the fight with Briton John Ryder is a rematch with Russian Dmitry Bivol.
Alvarez lost to Bivol last May and failed to become the World Boxing Association (WBA Super) light heavyweight champion. After the fight, the Mexican demanded a rematch. Bivol defended his title on November 5 against Mexican Gilberto Ramirez, and Alvarez defeated Kazakh Gennady Golovkin in September in their third super middleweight bout. The fight between Alvarez and Ryder will take place on May 6 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
“A rematch with Bivol is my goal, but now we have to get through this fight and we can start talking about a rematch with Bivol again. In boxing, you can never be sure that everything will happen the way everyone says. I will train for everything 100% and I won’t be so self-confident,” Alvarez was quoted as saying by Fight Hub TV.
Alvarez is 32 years old with 58 wins and two losses. He is the WBA Super, World Boxing Organization (WBO), World Boxing Council (WBC) and IBF super middleweight champion.
