Boxer Alvarez: I didn’t think I was losing to Bivol on points
MOSCOW, May 8 – Mexican boxer Saul Alvarez, after the fight with Russian Dmitry Bivol, said that during the fight he did not feel that he was losing on points.
On Sunday in Las Vegas (USA), Bivol defeated Alvarez and defended his World Boxing Association (WBA Super) light heavyweight title.
“During the fight I didn’t think I was behind on points. I was tired before the last rounds. I think Bivol won 4-5 rounds. You have to give him credit, he is hard to hit with clean shots. I like challenges. This is not the end. I will come back and I will be stronger. I feel like I can leave with my head held high, I am proud and feel good. This could be a rivalry that will define my career,” the Mexican boxer told reporters.
Bivol is 31 years old, the undefeated Russian in professional boxing has 20 wins (11 by knockout). 31-year-old Alvarez spent 61 fights in the professional ring, scoring 57 wins (39 by knockout) with two losses and two draws.
