American Tiafoe disqualified from Davis Cup match for broken racket
MOSCOW, September 14 – American tennis player Francis Tiafoe was disqualified for breaking his racket in the group stage match of the Davis Cup final against the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor.
With the score 6:3, 6:7 (7:9), 6:6 (6:3) in favor of the representative of the Netherlands, Tiafoe began to argue with the match referee, after which he hit the court with his racket several times with all his might and broke it. At the end of the episode, the referee announced that Tiafoe received a penalty point and awarded the victory to Griskpoor.
