Arman Tsarukyan – Mateusz Gamrot, referee’s decision, Tsarukyan’s defeat

“Everyone will be talking about me.” Tsarukyan talked too much – and was punished

Arman took a bad example from Duraev. He also considered the opponent “no one”.

The UFC Vegas 57 tournament turned out to be successful for fighters from Russia and the former USSR, but the main fight became a bitter pill. Arman Tsarukyan fought desperately with Mateusz Gamrot for five rounds, losing by unanimous decision. Let’s leave aside the decision itself, which many considered unfair. Tsarukyan really interrupted the opponent, but, let’s be honest, he still left the judges room for “creativity”.

The defeat unpleasantly struck the Russian Armenian: he sank to his knees and covered his eyes with his hands. Arman can be understood, because the fighter went on a series of five victories and was considered the clear favorite of the fight. But it was even more offensive to lose after all the big words that Tsarukyan said before the fight. Arman has always been sharp-tongued, but this time his eloquence and self-confidence surprised literally everyone.

“After this fight, everything has to change for me. Everyone will be talking about me. I will be a title contender after this fight. The division is full of guys who blend in with me. After this fight, they won’t have a chance anymore.”

“I think my stance and wrestling is better than Gamrot. The only thing is that he can work both left-handed and right-handed, and I work only in right-handedness. He is so deceiving during the fight, changing stances. He has a good one-leg pass, but my level is not there. Neither wrestling nor standing. I will declassify him.”

In addition, Tsarukyan also made an ugly show at a duel of views, trying to rush at Gamrot. The contemptuous attitude towards the opponent, loud words about the title and unnecessary aggression seemed to have been written off from another Russian – Albert Duraev. He recently also became a victim of excessive self-confidence, without putting Joaquin Buckley in anything. Which eventually turned Duraev into a punching bag, winning by technical knockout.

Don’t judge Arman unnecessarily. In the end, arrogance and self-confident trash talk is a great tool to quickly get a top fight. But sometimes you need to behave a little more modestly so that you don’t have to apologize for a fight where you promised to easily get a victory. However, Tsarukyan is still very young and has enough time to become wiser. And Arman’s sports potential is already huge.
