MOSCOW, 22 Jul – Real Madrid fans have asked football club president Florentino Perez to prevent Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo from joining Atlético Madrid, according to Spanish newspaper As.
According to the source, during the signing of autographs for fans in Los Angeles, where Real Madrid are in pre-season training camp, one of the fans asked Perez to make every effort to return Cristiano Ronaldo to the Madrid club.
“Please bring Cristiano back. Make sure he doesn’t go to Atlético,” the fan asked.
Perez did not respond to the request, but it resonated with others in the audience. Soon, many people were asking for it.
Earlier, the French L’Equipe reported that Ronaldo has the option of moving to Atlético Madrid. However, the head coach of “Manchester United” Erik ten Hag reported that the Portuguese could extend the contract with the club.
Ronaldo, 37, joined Manchester United from Italian side Juventus in the summer of 2021. The player’s contract with the Mancunians runs until the summer of 2023 with the possibility of an extension for another season. Ronaldo is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, a five-time Champions League winner and the 2016 European Champion.
