MOSCOW, 28 Jul – Fans of the Madrid football club Atlético Madrid have protested against the possible transfer to the team of the Portuguese striker Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo, according to As.
Earlier it was reported that Ronaldo could leave the English club after the team failed to break into the Champions League at the end of last season. There have been speculations in the media that the 37-year-old Portuguese could continue his career at Atlético Madrid or France’s Paris Saint-Germain.
During a pre-season friendly against Spanish third division club Numancia (4-0) on Wednesday, Atlético fans displayed a large banner reading “CR7 not welcome” in the stands.
Ronaldo moved to Manchester United from Italian side Juventus in the summer of 2021. The Portuguese is a five-time winner of the Golden Ball, European champion in 2016, as well as a five-time winner of the Champions League. Four times he won the main club trophy with Real Madrid – the principal rival of Atlético in the Madrid derby.
