MOSCOW, 21 July – The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has canceled all tournaments in China scheduled for the second half of the current season due to coronavirus restrictions, including the Masters in Shanghai, according to the official website of the organization.
Instead, six new tournaments will be held in autumn, the organizers of which have been issued one-year licenses. Competitions will be held in San Diego (USA), Seoul (South Korea), Tel Aviv (Israel), Florence (Italy), Gijon (Spain) and Naples (Italy).
“As a global sport, we continue to cope with the impact of the pandemic. Event cancellations are a sad reality and we wish the affected participants and fans all the best. At the same time, it is incredibly encouraging that many cities are ready to host ATP tournaments. great international interest in our product and confirms the flexible approach we have taken in responding to rapidly changing circumstances,” said ATP CEO Andrea Gaudenzi.
