MOSCOW, 16 July – Australian cyclist Michael Matthews of Team BikeExchange has won Stage 14 of the Tour de France stage race.
He covered the 192.5 km stage in 4 hours 30 minutes 53 seconds. The second and third places were taken by Italy’s Alberto Bettiol (EF Education-Nippo, +0.15 seconds) and France’s Thibault Pino (Groupama-FDJ, +0.34).
Russian Bora-Hansgrohe cyclist Alexander Vlasov (+13.00), competing under a neutral flag, finished 29th.
The leader of the general classification after 14 stages remains the Dane Jonas Wingegaard (Jumbo-Visma). His total result is 55 hours 31 minutes 1 second. Second is the current stage winner Slovenian Tadej Pogacar from UAE Team Emirates (+2.22), the third is Briton Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers, +2.43). Vlasov is 11th (+10.32).
Stage 15, 202.5 km long, will take place on July 17. The cycling race will finish on July 24 in Paris.
