The match started with high energy, Bangladesh pressing aggressively. However, momentum shifted in the 10 minutes before and after halftime, with Singapore capitalizing to score twice in quick succession. Rakib Hossain’s goal revived hopes, but missed opportunities and fading vigor cost Bangladesh the game.

Cabrera praised Hamza Choudhury and Samit Fahmidul for their dynamic performances, with Hamza creating chances from midfield and Samit showing effort despite early struggles. Yet, the coach pinpointed lost energy and poor finishing as key reasons for the loss. “We created chances but couldn’t convert,” Cabrera said. “I’m proud of the second half; we were brave, but the result disappoints me.”

A pivotal moment came late when Singapore’s Irfan Najib fouled Faisal Ahmed Fahim in the box. Fans and Cabrera deemed it a clear penalty, but the referee dismissed appeals, sparking outrage among supporters. “I need to review it, but it felt like a penalty,” Cabrera noted. “With our attacking momentum, it could’ve been 2-2.”

Fans who queued since morning at the National Stadium cheered Hamza and Samit but expressed frustration over the referee’s call. Many believe Bangladesh needs more finishers like Hamza to elevate the team. “We created chances but missed them,” said a supporter. “With a pure number nine, we can win.”
