MOSCOW, 23 Jul – Belgian Wout van Aert of the Jumbo-Visma team won the 20th stage of the Tour de France multi-day cycling race.
The penultimate stage was an individual race with a separate start. The winner covered 40.7 km in 47 minutes 59 seconds. The second place belongs to his teammate, leader of the general classification Dane Jonas Vingegaard (lag – 19 seconds). Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (+0.27) from UAE Team Emirates was third.
Russian Bora-Hansgrohe cyclist Aleksandr Vlasov, riding under a neutral flag, finished 18th (+2.46).
In the general classification with a total time of 76 hours 33 minutes 57 seconds Wingegaard leads. The second is Pogacar (+3.34), the third place is occupied by Briton Geraint Thomas from Ineos Grenadiers (+8.13). Vlasov moved up two lines and is in fifth place (+16.37).
The final stage of the Tour de France, 116 km long, will take place on July 24. The cycling race finishes in Paris.
