Berezutsky: Akinfeev should play next week
MOSCOW, May 7 – Goalkeeper and captain of the Moscow football club CSKA Igor Akinfeev should recover from injury by next week, said the team’s head coach Alexei Berezutsky.
Akinfeev was injured in the game of the 27th round of the championship of Russia against Akhmat (0:2) in a collision with forward Mohamed Konate from Grozny. The goalkeeper was diagnosed with tibial contusion and post-traumatic periostitis. On Saturday, he remained on the bench for the game of the 28th round of the Russian Premier League against Sochi, he will be replaced by 18-year-old Vladislav Torop.
“This blow in the game with Akhmat was quite serious. His condition is normal, he should be ready by next week,” Berezutsky said, quoted by CSKA’s Telegram channel.
In the next round of the RPL, CSKA will play on the road with Krasnodar on May 15.
