Boxer Bivol was heavier than Alvarez at the weigh-in before the fight for the WBA title
MOSCOW, May 6 – The current World Boxing Association (WBA) super light heavyweight champion Russian Dmitry Bivol turned out to be heavier than the absolute world champion in the second middleweight Mexican Saul Alvarez.
Bivol’s weight was 79.20 kg (174.6 lb) and Alvarez 79.11 kg (174.4 lb).
Bivol is 31 years old, the undefeated Russian has 19 wins in professional boxing (11 by knockout). He is the World Boxing Association (WBA) super light heavyweight champion (up to 79.4 kg). He held his last fight in December last year against Russian Umar Salamov in Yekaterinburg (winning by unanimous decision).
The absolute world champion in the second middleweight (up to 76.2 kg), 31-year-old Alvarez had 60 fights, scoring 57 wins (39 by knockout) and suffering one defeat, two more fights ended in a draw.
The fight between Alvarez and Bivol for the title of WBA Super light heavyweight champion will take place on the night of May 8 in Las Vegas, USA.
