MOSCOW, 27 Jul – The Executive Committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) granted the appeal of the six-time national champion Bordeaux and left the club in the second division, according to the official website of the organization.
At the meeting of the FFF, which took place on Wednesday, the executive committee of the federation agreed with the decision of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of France to preserve Bordeaux registration in the second division. The National Management Control Authority will closely monitor the financial situation of the club in the 2022/23 season.
Earlier, the FFF Board of Appeal transferred Bordeaux to the National Championship 1, the third division of the country, where semi-professional and amateur clubs can play along with professional teams. These sanctions were imposed on the “Bordeaux” due to a number of financial violations committed by the management of the team. The club is on the verge of bankruptcy, it was transferred under the control of an external administration.
At the end of the season, Bordeaux lost its place in the French Ligue 1 on a sporting basis.
