During the session “Solidarity with Ukraine – the contribution of sports”, the head of the national NOC once again stressed the unprecedented solidarity around Ukraine and our Olympic movement, Ukrinform reports.
Bubka also noted the enormous assistance of international sports federations, sports organizations, NOCs and the International Olympic Committee, which created the Solidarity Fund to support Ukrainian athletes and strongly recommended that sanctions be imposed against representatives of the aggressor countries.
“The IOC President assured us that the suspension of all those who support the war must remain in place. Monitoring of such manifestations will continue. It is very difficult to count how many millions we have received in the form of various assistance to our athletes, our children, our country – and we are extremely grateful for all this.
I want to once again draw attention to the importance of our solidarity. As an Olympian, I know that our values, our unity is the key to our common success. Over the years, I have seen enough examples of Olympic solidarity, but the solidarity that we see now in relation to Ukraine is simply incredible. Thank you all for your support. We will definitely win, overcome all challenges, because we do it together. And remember, Ukraine is Europe,” said the President of the NOC of Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities, and then launched a large-scale invasion. The war against the Russian Federation continues for the 114th day.
