A chess player from Buryatia became the winner of the VEF Cup 2023
ULAN-UDE, September 15 – Buryat chess player Erdem Khubukshanov won the VEF Cup at the VIII Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the press service of the republican government reports.
It is noted that 15-year-old Khubukshanov is an international FIDE master, silver medalist of the European Championship, multiple winner and prize-winner of championships in Russia, Europe, and international tournaments. The athlete won the blitz tournament, in which 24 participants of the VEF Cup played with the townspeople. He was one point ahead of his closest pursuer.
According to the press service, 32 world-famous grandmasters from 11 countries took part in the tournament.
