Cameroonian goal gives Switzerland victory over African team

The goal of the ethnic Cameroonian Embolo brought the Swiss victory over the national team of Cameroon at the World Cup

DOHA, 24 Nov – The Swiss national team defeated the team of Cameroon in the match of the first round of the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar.
Group G met at the El Janoub Stadium and ended with a 1-0 victory for the Swiss. The goal was scored by Brel Embolo (48th minute). The forward, who is a native of Cameroon, did not celebrate the goal scored.

In the 68th minute, midfielder Gael Ondua, who has Russian citizenship, came on as a substitute for the African team. Also, the Cameroonians on the field in the 81st minute appeared forward of the Moscow “Dynamo” Mumi Ngamalyo. Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri made the starting line-up and became only the second player in the history of the Swiss national team after Valon Behrami to play in four World Cups.
The other Group G match on Thursday will see Brazil take on Serbia. In the second round, the Swiss will meet on November 28 with the team of Brazil, the Cameroonians – with the Serbs. The World Championship will end on December 18th.
