MOSCOW, 19 Jul – Canada’s Yugo Uhl of Team Israel-Premier Tech won the 16th stage of the Tour de France multi-day cycling race.
He covered the distance of 178.5 km in 4 hours 23 minutes 47 seconds. The second was the Frenchman Valentin Madua from Groupama – FDJ, the third – the Canadian Michael Woods from Israel-Premier Tech (backlog of both – 1 minute 10 seconds).
Russian Bora-Hansgrohe cyclist Alexander Vlasov, who competes under a neutral flag, took sixth place (+1.40), repeating his best result in the multi-day event. He had previously finished sixth in stage eight.
The leader in the general classification after 16 stages is kept by the Dane Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma). His total result is 64 hours 28 minutes 9 seconds. Second is the current stage winner Slovenian Tadej Pogacar from UAE Team Emirates (+2.22), the third is Briton Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers, +2.43). Vlasov moved up to rank eight (+6.18).
Stage 17, 130 km long, will take place on July 20. The cycling race will finish on July 24 in Paris.
