Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid head coach, commented on Kylian Mbappe‘s trip to Stockholm, saying players can do what they want on their days off.
On Monday, Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen reported an investigation into a rape case after Mbappe’s two-day visit to Stockholm. Swedish media wrote that Mbappe arrived with friends, visited a restaurant and nightclub, and left the next day.
Police later arrived at his hotel to investigate. TV4 News reported that the victim sought medical help and accused Mbappe of rape. On Wednesday, Mbappe’s lawyer announced plans to sue for defamation.
“Mbappe is happy to play tomorrow and contribute to the team. He had a planned rest during the international break and used it to stay fit. On weekends, everyone can do what they want. I, for example, went to London for two days without asking permission,” Ancelotti said at a press conference before Real Madrid’s game against Celta on Saturday.
