MOSCOW, 23 Jul – Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi takes fourth place in the table of the third stage of the Grand Chess Tour in Zagreb before the last day of the competition.
Saturday was the first day of the blitz competition. Nepomniachtchi won five victories in nine games, drew three times and was defeated by the world champion in classical chess Magnus Carlsen.
After the rapid games and the first day of blitz, Carlsen leads the table with 18 points. The second is the American Wesley So (16.5), the third is the Dutchman Jorden van Forest (16). Nepomniachtchi has 15.5 points.
On Sunday, chess players will play another nine games of blitz.
