MOSCOW, 30 Sep – Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko told reporters that Russian athletes are patriots and will not follow the call to distance themselves from the special military operation in Ukraine in order to participate in international competitions.
Earlier, the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, in an interview with the Italian edition of Corriere della Sera, said that Russian athletes who do not support the special operation in Ukraine should be allowed to participate in international competitions in a neutral status.
“Russia, in turn, creates new formats of competitions with the participation of our athletes and athletes from friendly countries – the CIS, SCO, BRICS. Competitive activity will be quickly restored, and everyone who decides to join us is open,” the Vice added. -premier.
