The most disastrous transfer window of CSKA. €30 million down the drain?
Two do not play, one escaped. Of all the transfers, only the cheapest one worked.
In the spring of 2020, the state corporation VEB came to CSKA, and with it a lot of money. In the very first transfer window, the club entered the market to strengthen the squad. Four purchases were made with a total value of € 32 million. There were high hopes for new players. But two years later, we can state that € 30 million was wasted! Currently, out of the entire quartet, only midfielder Baktiyor Zainutdinov benefits the team, who cost the army team the cheapest (€ 2 million).
Chidera Ejuke from Heerenveen for €11.5m
The 22-year-old Heerenveen winger from the Netherlands came to CSKA with decent statistics. For 25 matches in the 2019/2020 season, Chidera scored 13 points (9 + 4). But adaptation in the Russian club was not easy for Ejuka. During the starting year in the RPL, the striker never stayed on the bench, but he hardly fully justified the trust of the coaching staff. For the entire season, he hit the other people’s goal five times and gave only two assists.

The striker’s preparations for the 2021/2022 season were complicated by the consequences of the coronavirus. At the start of the championship, he consistently entered the field, but did not get much playing time. In 1,829 minutes on the field, Ejuque scored five goals and provided four assists. One effective action in 200 minutes is not the highest productivity for a player in his role. Chidera was distinguished only by a huge number of strokes, far from always appropriate and successful.
Instead of a top player, CSKA got a show-off. Do not be sad because of his departure from Russia
And at the start of the 2022/2023 season, Ejuke behaved as strangely as possible. A week before the start of the championship, he confessed his love to the army team and intended to stay in the RPL. And then he unexpectedly suspended the contract and fled to the German Hertha to the former head coach of Dynamo Sandro Schwartz. This “feint” of Ejuke caused a flurry of indignation among CSKA fans.
Adolfo Gaich – from San Lorenzo for € 8.5 million
Gaich, immediately after moving to CSKA, began to consistently start at the start. But for 18 matches played, the striker scored a modest 1 + 1. On the field, the Argentine looked like a foreign body, often getting out of the general rhythm. The only positive moment in his game was only a large number of martial arts won. The 2020/2021 season ended in Italy. Benevento loaned the player with an option to buy, but did not activate this option in the end. In Serie A, Gaich scored two goals in 15 matches and did not help the club to maintain a place in the elite.

In the 2021/2022 season, CSKA did not have much hope for the player, so he immediately sent him on loan. But in the Spanish Segunda, as part of Huesca, Adolfo’s statistics did not improve much. In 28 matches, Gaich scored only one goal and provided three assists.
Was it worth it to leave? Legionnaires of CSKA fail in Italian leases
The striker starts this season with CSKA. True, in official matches he has not yet received a minute. Although in words Fedotov is counting on the overall striker and is ready to give him a chance.
CSKA head coach
“Gaich is working, working very hard. I think after his desire in training, he will definitely appear on the field.”
Bruno Fuchs – from Internacional for € 8 million
Fuchs moved to CSKA in the status of one of the most promising Brazilian defenders. The following year, he even won the gold of the Olympics with the national team (although he did not play a minute at the tournament). But in the club, he still has not revealed his potential. The reason for this is endless injuries. And after the extraction of the tooth, the defender asked the medical headquarters for three whole days off.

In two full seasons, the Olympic champion has accumulated only 11 matches for CSKA. And before the start of the current championship, Fuchs flew to Brazil for treatment. In social networks, there were suggestions that the footballer would not return to Russia at all. But Bruno is determined to finally interrupt the traumatic streak and prove that he was not bought in vain. Fuchs returned to Moscow and is currently engaged in an individual program.
