MOSCOW, July 7 – Slovenian Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates won the sixth and longest stage of the Tour de France multi-day race.
He covered the distance of 219.9 km in 4 hours 27 minutes and 13 seconds. Australian Michael Matthews (Team BikeExchange – Jayco) was second, Frenchman David Goudyu (Groupama – FDJ) was third. Russian Bora-Hansgrohe cyclist Aleksandr Vlasov, riding under a neutral flag, finished the stage with the 16th result. With 10 km to go, he had an accident, falling off his bike, but quickly returned to the peloton.
Pogacar became the new leader of the general classification with the result of 20 hours 44 minutes 44 seconds. The second is the American Nilsson Pauless (EF Education – EasyPost, +4 s), the third is the Dane Jonas Wingegard (Jumbo-Visma, +31). Vlasov is on the 7th line (+52).
The fifth stage, 176.5 km long, will take place on Friday.
