MOSCOW, 23 Jul – Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to a move to Atlético Madrid, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the publication, the striker is ready to reduce the salary requirements in order to move to a club that will play next season in the Champions League. It is noted that Atlético fans are against the transfer of the Portuguese, who previously played for Real Madrid.
To acquire Ronaldo, Atlético will have to sell one of the players to reduce wage costs. According to The Times, the Spanish club in this situation is ready to part with the French striker Antoine Griezmann. The player is already being offered to other clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, but the French champions are not interested in acquiring a striker. Griezmann joined Atlético Madrid on loan from Barcelona in 2021. If a player plays at least 50% of matches for Atlético Madrid in two seasons, the Madrid club will have to buy the player from Barcelona for 40 million euros.
Ronaldo, 37, joined Manchester United from Italy’s Juventus in the summer of 2021. Last season he took part in 38 matches in which he scored 24 goals. The 31-year-old Griezmann has 8 goals in 38 meetings.
