MOSCOW, 24 July – Dutch cyclist Lorena Vibes of the DSM team won the opening stage of the first ever women’s Tour de France.
She covered the 81.6 km stage in 1 hour 54 minutes. Marianne Vos, her compatriot from Jumbo-Visma, finished second, Belgian cyclist Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) finished third.
Tamara Dronova, Russian cyclist Roland Cogeas Edelweiss Squad, riding under a neutral flag, finished ninth.
The second stage, 136.5 km long, will take place on July 25. The race consists of eight stages and finishes on July 31.
